lUXURY СARS OF THE 50S

Muntz Jet(USA 1950)

Today, no one knows about this car, but once it was exceptionally great people: movie stars, musicians, leading figures of show business. All instances of the Muntz Jet (aka Muntz Road-Jet) were different, and not just because each body was hand-made. Each car was made to order, a total of 394 pieces were collected, and even the engines could be different.

Muntz has launched a new class of cars - big luxury coupes and roadsters such as the Cadillac Eldorado, Buick Riviera and Ford Thunderbird, which has also become popular with premium manufacturers in Europe.

Bentley 1950 MK VI

In 1946, Rolls-Royce moved its production from Derby to Crewe and began building complete cars. The first new Bentley was the Mark VI, based on the 1939 Park Ward-designed Mark V. The new car used the same independent front suspension and an inlet-over-exhaust valve six-cylinder engine of 4,257 cc, which was increased to 4,566 cc in 1951. The cars had centralized lubrication, and all were fitted with four-speed manual gearboxes.

AC Ace Bristol (United Kingdom, 1956 р.)

A truly classic sports car that has formed the basis for several iconic models (most notably the famous Cobra by Carroll Shelby). Laconic and low-key lightweight aluminum body combines all the best features of British classics.

However, it was slightly larger than the typical English roadster, and not so conservative from a technical point of view: a spacious tubular frame, independent suspension, disc brakes and a row of six under the hood. The AC Ace model appeared in 1953, and a couple of years later it was equipped with a powerful 2.0-liter Bristol engine, with the car accelerated at 200 km / h and in 9.0 seconds accelerated to the first hundred.

1950 JAGUAR MK

The Mark V was the first new post-war jaguar to ride on a freshly designed chassis with independent front suspension. The shortened version of the chassis has been used for XK sports cars since the XK120. In 1950, the year of this 3.5-liter four-door sedan, Jaguar sedans received solid steel bodies.

This car was built in October 1950 and sold in Paris by Garage Royale Elysees, a French Jaguar distributor.
